NERO Hub is one of the five hubs developed with the support of RegioGreenTex project (no. 101083731), funded through Interregional Innovation Investments Instrument (I3).
RegioGreenTex will support the development of recycling hubs in 5 regions of the EU, offering a more integrated solution for textile recycling. The hubs will be designed based on a demand-driven logic and will be instrumental to the demonstration activities that the 26 partner companies will perform during the projects because of concrete investment implementation by the end of the project. These will widen the possibilities of waste materials recycling and offer local SMEs additional opportunities for new recycled products, innovative recycling technologies, new textile structures and related compositions, and new market opportunities.
Scope
North-East Romania (NERO) Hub’s scope is to foster a zero-waste circular textile value chain in North-East Romania through innovative solutions with potential of multiplication. The activities of the hub will address the value-chain of the garments industry in a systemic manner, starting with the product and fabrication design, up to (industrial) textile waste identification and exploitation – either directly, by recycling and up-cycling, or indirectly, by connecting regional, national or inter-regional players with a stake in recycling activities. On a long term, the hub aims to address the whole textile sector of North-East Romania, in line with the regional priorities of smart specialisation.
